Music in my Family
This post is about my mom. She is a big part of why my music taste is the way it is, from listening to her sing in the church choir, to listening to music with her in the car. This is the dialog of our conversation:
(Me): What is your favorite song?
(My Mom): Two Occasions (By The Deele)
(Me) why?
(My Mom): I don't know I always think about it, even since I was young.
(Me): Is there any genre or kind of music you dont like?
(My Mom): Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm...
(My Mom continued): ......
Mumble Rap
(Me): How has music changed since you have grown up?
(My Mom): there is a lot more songs that are unoriginal. Many songs are taking samples from the song in like the 80s. Not saying all the computerized stuff is bad, but things used to be live and original... Live bands just feel better. It sounds more genuine and sounds like it fits less of a mold.
(Me:) What do you think of your parent's taste in music growing up?
(my mom): Loved it! Probably why I like live bands so much. A lot songs take from the bands they listened to. Your grandpa's music was my favorite, and your Grandma's music went even farther back. They don't make music like they used to. You have too many people now who don't write their own stuff.
(Me:) How has your music taste changed since then to now?
(My Mom): I used to listen to the radio a lot but not you either get oldies stations or repeats of the same four popular songs. So now I'm just on streaming platforms. Or Youtube. (She then went on a tangent on how music when your playlist ends is just music that was paid to be at the top, or paid to be played more than others.) The biggest change has been how I listened to music, not so much who I listen to.
We ended it here because my mom had to go to bed, since she worked in the morning.
